Goals and Objectives

The goal of Conservation Alliance Nepal is to support the government in enhancing biodiversity conservation, controlling wildlife crime, mitigating human-wildlife conflict, conservation policy and strategy, climate change issues, environmental advocacy, among others. Specifically, CAN's founding members have envisioned the following core objectives intending to support the government:
 

  1. To support the government bodies in combating human-wildlife conflict and to undertake necessary initiatives in this regard. To provide essential support to the individuals and communities affected by the human-wildlife conflict.
  2. To conduct public awareness programs on conservation of environment, nature, natural resources and biodiversity, management of climate change, wildlife conservation and mitigation of human-wildlife conflict. To conduct training/education programs related to this.
  3. To study and conduct research and provide recommendations to related bodies on policies and strategies related to environment, nature, natural resources and wildlife. To conduct study and research on environmental problems, mitigation of climate change impacts and conservation of biodiversity. 
  4. To undertake initiatives, studies, research and training for the management of risks occurring due to environmental problems, climate change and natural disasters.
  5. To study and conduct research on policies related to climate change management and biodiversity conservation. To undertake necessary studies and research, and initiatives on subjects related to agricultural biodiversity.
  6. To encourage work related to development and promotion of nature-based tourism.
  7. To undertake studies, research and take necessary initiatives to reduce and control wildlife crimes.
  8. To carry out studies and research on issues of policy and strategic importance on nature conservation and provide recommendations to the concerned government bodies.
