The Conservation Alliance Nepal (CAN) hosted a special year-end celebration on Friday, 11 April 2025 in Kathmandu to reflect on its achievements and share its strategic vision for the future. The event was held in the presence of several high-profile dignitaries and key stakeholders, making it a significant occasion. Among the distinguished guests were Honourable Minister Mr. Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri and Honourable State Minister Ms. Rupa B.K. from the Ministry of Forests and Environment; General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of Army Staff, Nepal Army; Mr. Rameshor Dangal, Secretary of the Ministry of Defence; His Excellency Rob Fenn, British Ambassador; Her Excellency Leann Johnston, Australian Ambassador; Her Excellency Dr. Danielle Meuwly, Ambassador of Switzerland and Ms. Hanaa Singer-Hamdy, Resident Coordinator of United Nations Nepal. The programme began with a warm welcome address by CAN Chairperson, General Gaurav Shamsher JB Rana, former Chief of Army Staff of the Nepal Army. In his remarks, he emphasized the critical importance of conservation, particularly in the context of climate change and its implications for national security. He highlighted the need for effective strategies and tactical planning to ensure meaningful outcomes. General Rana also clarified CAN’s evolving role, stating that the organization aims to serve as an institutional partner in conservation, rather than merely as an implementation partner. CAN General Secretary, Dr. Siddhartha Bajra Bajracharya, delivered an insightful presentation outlining CAN’s Five-Year Strategic Plan. He elaborated on the organization’s vision, mission, guiding principles, and strategic goals, providing a clear roadmap for its future direction. Dr. Bajracharya also introduced CAN’s top three priority initiatives, emphasizing their potential for meaningful collaboration. He extended an open invitation to all stakeholders to actively engage in these efforts. Underscoring CAN’s core values, Dr. Bajracharya reaffirmed the organization’s strong commitment to building trust and credibility through consistent adherence to high ethical standards and principled leadership.
